Salcombe Town - website article from Police

The Devon and Cornwall Constabulary are responsible for the policing of Salcombe and surrounding area. We are pleased to provide this service to residents, businesses
and visitors to Salcombe. This is indeed one of the most beautiful areas in England and one of the safest places to live and visit.

Salcombe has its own small police station at the top of Onslow Road, the new station only opened in 2004. The Salcombe police station is not open to the public, but is used
as a base for the oor Neighbourhood Beat Managers and the PCSO (Police Community Support Warden) Matt Blackmore.

PC Mullen has policed the Salcombe area for many years and is responsible for liaising with the Salcombe Town Council and surrounding parish councils.
Salcombe received its 24 hour police patrol cover from the nearby Kingsbridge police station.

Report for Salcombe Town Council Re Policing Summer 2007

Courtenay park

This area has long been subject of complaints from residents regarding noise and youths drinking. Numerous patrols have been carried out by Salcombe Pc, Pcso and Kingsbridge colleagues throughout the summer and a quantity of alcohol taken from young persons.

Fusion Bus

The pickup point was moved from Shadycombe road to Gould road this year and as a result no complaints have been received about the loading of the busses. Early complaints about the drop off at 0330 in Salcombe resulted in a review of the return route and this was reversed. Again the number of complaints were greatly reduced. Doorstaff were not initially deployed on the return routes but as a result of an incident at Malborough on 8th August where some windows were pushed out of the upper deck and doorstaff were subsequently deployed on the return journey. Police were unable to identify those responsible but all passengers on the top deck had their names taken and are now banned from the club for life.

Parking

A high volume of complaints was received throughout the summer regarding parking on double yellow lines and in residents parking areas. Officers, Pcso's and Kingsbridge colleagues issued a large number of tickets with a zero tolerance attitude being adopted.

Regatta

The Town Regatta was Policed with the assistance of colleagues from all over South and West Devon BCU. The main events passed without incident thanks to those who helped us.

General

We seem to have experienced far less problems in the town in general compared to previous years. Crime figures are down and incidents of disorder from licensed premises are also much reduced.
